YouTube is expanding tools for creators to engage with their fans as streaming live will now have a ring around the channel avatar, YouTube CPO Neal Mohan wrote on Twitter.
Although the feature is new for YouTube, it's far from innovation as other social media — TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram — have been using ring avatars for years now.

There is no mention of desktop users though as ring avatars are available only for mobile devices. It also remains unclear if the feature is supported by both iOS and Android applications.
Earlier in February, YouTube revealed a set of features it's working on for 2022 to boost content monetization. Mohan teased a group of tools for creators and even mentioned that the company is interested in new technologies "like blockchain and NFTs."
